Released by the Lions Club:  It has come to our attention that many residents of Smith County think commodities are only for those in the housing units.  That is not true!  Anyone that meets the income guidelines qualifies.  The gross monthly income of one person in the household must be less than $1316.  Each additional member of the household adds an additional $468.  Those requesting commodities must provide proof of residence within Smith County, proof of all monthly household income, and produce a valid ID.

The next distribution of commodities will be at 9am on May 21st at the Western Plains recreation hall.  This distribution will include fresh apples, oranges, dried cranberries, spaghetti sauce, figs, cranberry juice, mixed fruit, pinto beans, canned pork, walnut pieces, lentils, garbanzo beans and chicken drumsticks.

Other distributions in Smith County on May 21st at 9am are:  Parkview Manor in Gaylord; Senior Center in Kensington; and the City Office in Lebanon.

Those picking up commodities for someone else must bring a signed note from that individual.   Recipients are encouraged to bring sacks or boxes to carry commodities home.

The Smith Center Lions Club brings these commodities to Smith County so that everyone eligible may receive them.  Mark your calender and share with your friends, the Lions Club does not want to lose this service due to lack of participation.
