Jump Start Grant

The Jump Start grant is a conditional grant to assist new or relocating businesses during the first 24 months of operations. This grant may be used to subsidize rent, utilities, marketing or other expenses.

Commerical Property Revitalization Grant

The Commercial Property Revitalization grant promote the rehabilitation, maintenance, and modernization of Smith Center’s commercial properties, thereby retaining the current business, or attracting a new business into the space.

This reimbursement grant is a matching grant and must be approved before the project work begins.

Smith County Workforce Recruitment Incentive Program

The purpose of the Smith County Workforce Recruitment Incentive Program is to grant workforce recruitment incentive funds to businesses to recruit new employees for positions that are hard to fill and key to economic and community growth for Smith County.

The Smith Center Economic Development department is providing the incentives to businesses across Smith County from a grant award from the Northwest Kansas Economic Innovation Center Incorporated according to the Smith County Workforce Recruitment Plan (file below).
